"Have Palette, Will Travel" - Hastings by Moonlight

Some years ago Cristiana and I had a lovely holiday in Hastings. Although I have not completed many 'moonlight' paintings they are some of my favourite works, especially the eerie night scenes of Samuel Palmer. With this painting, 'Hastings by Moonlight' (on show in the exhibition "Have Palette, Will Travel") I used my artistic licence to paint in the daytime and add the moonlight after!

Hastings by Moonlight. Watercolour & Gouache, size 595 x 400mm (framed and mounted) £495

Below is another of my moonlight works (though not on show in this exhibition as it has sold).

'New Moon, New City' - sold

"Have Palette, Will Travel" - Alpine Mist (print)

In the 1970's we had many happy holidays in Bavaria staying in the flat of some good friends in Mittenwald. The mountains were close by and we went on many walks. The painting below was made sitting on a mountain path where everything seemed to happen at once; low cloud suddenly appeared, a lizard ran across my foot and a butterfly alighted on my shoulder!

Alpine Mist - available as a print

'Have Palette, Will Travel' - Tower Pier

In the early 1960's I wanted to make a drawing of the cannons that used to be located on Tower Pier by the Tower of London. I was waiting until the children had gone but they were having so much fun that the family decided to sit down and have their lunch so they all ended up being in the drawing too!

Tower Pier 1962 Pencil drawing, size 372 x 300mm £320
